Agent-based Electricity Balancing with Distributed Energy Resources, A Multiperspective Case Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Distributed generation (DG) of electricity is providing an increasing part of the worldwide electricity supply. At the same time, there is a big potential of demand response resources. When — in a geographical area or in the contract portfolio of an energy trader — the number of these Distributed Energy Resources (DER) increases, clustered control of DER by common ICT (information and communication technology) systems can add value. Due to the fine-grained and distributed nature of DER, the design of such a system needs to meet heavy requirements, e.g. regarding scalability and openness. Further, these systems need to balance multiple stakes in a multiactor environment. Multiagent systems, especially those based on electronic markets have been identified as key technologies in this respect. This paper presents a multiperspective case study of the design, implementation and performance of such a system for the business case of imbalance reduction in commercial clusters of DER. The benefits of this approach are shown by field experimental results of a real-life DER cluster with an imbalance characteristic dominated by wind electricity production. The approach resulted in substantial imbalance reductions. Further, a thorough analysis of the networked business constellation is given, together with an indication how business modelling techniques can be used to asses the financial feasibility of the business idea.

Dynamic Planning the Expansion of Electric Energy Distribution Systems Considering Distributed Generation Resources in the Presence of Power Demand Uncertainty
In this paper, a new strategy based on a dynamic (time-based) model is proposed for expansion planning of electrical energy distribution systems, taking into account distributed generation resources and advantage of the techno-economic approach. In addition to optimal placement and capacity, the proposed model is able to determine the timing of installation / reinforcement of expansion options....

This paper presents an online two-stage Q-learning based multi-agent (MA) controller for load frequency control (LFC) in an interconnected multi-area multi-source power system integrated with distributed energy resources (DERs). The proposed control strategy consists of two stages. The first stage is employed a PID controller which its parameters are designed using sine cosine optimization (SCO...

This paper describes our research in technology for the management and control of distributed energy resource agents. An agent-based management and control system is being developed to enable largescale deployment of distributed energy resources. Local intelligent agents will allow consumers who are connected at low levels in the distribution network to manage their energy requirements and part...
متن کاملA Survey on the Impact of Distributed Energy Resources on Power Flow Components
Turning to Renewable Energy Sources (RES) is the most logical politics in securing the modern society from critical changes in earth increasing temperature. However, Distributed Generation (DG) sources could lead to new challenges in electricity network, mainly allocation of DG sources in distribution level of power system will set the existing network under stress of power flow parameters. The...

The future smart energy grid demands for new control paradigms that are able to incorporate a huge number of rather small, distributed and individually configured energy resources. In order to allow for a transition of the current central market and network structure to a decentralized smart grid, with small units pooling together to jointly trade their electricity production on specialized mar...
